Robert J. Huckshorn Arboretum

Description

The Robert J. Huckshorn Arboretum located on FAU’s Jupiter campus is unique in that it features native Florida plants and ecosystems. These ecosystems include: Pine Flatwoods, Mixed Hardwood Swamp, Cabbage Palm/Oak Hammock, and Tropical Hardwood Hammock. The Arboretum has over 40 species of trees and woody shrubs specifically chosen for their ecological value. Most of the plants selected provide berries for birds and other wildlife. Other plants provide the nectar and caterpillar food that attracts our native butterflies. In addition to creating a haven for wildlife, the Arboretum is a welcoming space that engages the faculty, staff, and students at FAU as well as the local community.
