Monty Andrews Arboretum

Description

The Monty Andrews Arboretum is situated on 4.5 acres of the Park and serves as one of the City’s major points of environmental interest and educational opportunities. The Arboretum holds over 80 species of trees and palms identified with information signs and a total of 118 trees and palms. There is also a Florida-friendly native shrub area, butterfly garden, picnic areas and four life size Florida animal sculptures of a Florida panther, sea turtle, manatee and tarpon. There are information signs for each of the statues as well as other opportunities to learn about the Florida environment and conservation in keeping with the Arboretum’s goal of education and awareness.

The City Parks Department works closely with a devoted team of volunteers led by Monty Andrews who still works tirelessly to develop and maintain the Arboretum.  The Arboretum is continuously adding trees and plants to the collection as well as improvements and educational displays to the grounds so there is always something new to see.
