Dartmouth Park

Description

The Park has Green Flag status and is the principal Park in Sandwell. Dartmouth Park was donated to the people of West Bromwich by the Earl of Dartmouth and opened in 1878 by the Earl himself.  The current Earl (the 10th) is Patron of the Friends of Dartmouth Park.

There are 710 trees in the park and 58 species.  Some of the trees date back to when it was part of the Earl of Dartmouth’s Estate.  There are a splendid number of pine trees and we propose that the area where they are situated becomes a Pinetum.   We have Monterey cypresses, Black pine, Corsican pine and Scot’s pine.
